Teofilo (IRE) sired his first winner when Parish Hall (IRE), also his first runner, won the 2yo maiden at Leopardstown on Sunday. Parish Hall is owned, bred and trained by Jim Bolger who also owned, bred and trained Teofilo to be unbeaten champion 2yo in 2006. Teofilo, by Galileo, stands at Kildangan Stud in Kildare for a covering fee of €15,000.
Jim Bolger also landed the Group 3 Ballsax Stakes at Leopardstown with the only filly in the line-up Banimpire (IRE). The winner was too strong for Regent Street with the favourite Recital running a satisfactory race in third. Bolger, who landed the race last year with Puncher Clynch, said: “I'm not really surprised. She ran well at the Curragh last month and I thought the step up in distance would suit - staying could be her game. She’s in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket but I’m going to have to think about that.” Banimpire is by Coolmore stallion Holy Roman Emperor and was bred by Ms Pat O’Kelly’s renowned Kilcarn Stud. She was purchased by her owner/trainer at Goffs Orby Sale for €52,000 and the now Group 3 winner will be a valuable addition to Bolger’s stud farm following her racing career.
