Trainer Tommy Stack and his son Fozzy celebrated their first Royal Ascot triumph with Lolly For Dolly (IRE) in the Group 2 Windsor Forest Stakes on Wednesday. The Oratorio filly showed great toughness under Wayne Lordan to stretch clear of Chachamaidee for a clearcut win. “She’s very tough and loves a battle and we’ll probably give her a break before bringing her back for a crack at the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.” Lolly For Dolly, bred by Jerry Jamgotchian, is owned by David Keoghan who is married to Cecilia Ahern, daughter of former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.
Banimpire (IRE) certainly thrives on her racing and she registered her most prestigious success so far when battling hard to win the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes on Thursday. The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor is incredibly tough and she really had to dig deep for Kevin Manning to repel Field Of Miracles (IRE) by a short head. Banimpire was winning her fifth stakes race this season and her trainer Jim Bolger commented; "She's done very well, she's a big, burly filly and it is extremely difficult to keep the weight off her because she doesn't do much at home. So as long as we can get a sequence with her, we'll chase it.” Banimpire, a €52,000 yearling at Goffs Orby Sale when consigned by her breeder Kilcarn Stud was a very shrewd purchase by Jim Bolger who can look forward to her being a valuable asset to his broodmare band.
