Willie Mullins capped a fantastic year by landing the French Champion Hurdle at Auteuil on Sunday. Victory in the Grade 1 Grande Course De Haies D'Auteuil with Thousand Stars completed a clean sweep for Mullins as he also won the Irish and English Champion Hurdles in 2011 with Hurricane Fly. It was also a third victory in the race for Mullins following the wins previously of Rule Supreme and Nobody Told Me and winning rider Ruby Walsh was quick to pass a lot of the credit to his sister Katie, commenting; “I have to say a big thanks to Katie - I spoke to her on Thursday about which one to ride, and she put me in the right direction.” Earlier on the card the Grade 1 Prix Alain Du Breil was won by the Irish bred Tidara Angel (IRE). The daughter of Oratorio beat Katkovana (by Westerner) to add to her previous Grade 2 course and distance victory over the same rival. Tidara Angel was bred by Robert De Vere Hunt and is a half sister to Grade 1 winner Tidal Fury.
