Ballyhane Stud has acquired its second new stallion for the 2012 season. German Classic winner Frozen Power will cover his first book of mares alongside fellow recent addition Roderic O'Connor at Joe and Jane Foley’s County Carlow operation this year. A son of Oasis Dream, Frozen Power was bred by Rathbarry Stud out of the Listed placed Royal Academy mare Musical Treat, also dam of dual 1,000 Guineas winner Finsceal Beo. Frozen Power won three races at two, including the Listed Prix de la Huderie, plus the Meydan Classic early in his three-year-old season before being switched to Mahmood Al Zarooni, for whom he won the German 2,000 Guineas. He retires with a record of five wins and two second placings from 18 starts for prize-money of nearly £264,000. Frozen Power’s stud fee has been set at €4,500 and his book will be limited to 125 mares. He joins Arakan, Captain Rio, Dandy Man, Majestic Missile and Roderic O'Connor on the Ballyhane roster.
