There was a significant Irish bred winner in Spain over the weekend when Fortun (IRE) landed the Gran Premio Villapadierno (Spanish Derby) at La Zarzuela Racecourse in Madrid. The son of Bachelor Duke was bred by John Doyle out of Duckmore Bay (by Titus Livius). He was bought as a yearling in Goffs by Spanish bloodstock agents Stamina Turf who had previously bought his three time winning older brother El Incendio also in Goffs as a foal. The family has served them well and we congratulate all concerned on their success.
Another weekend winning graduate of Goffs Foal Sale was Tuttipaesi, the winner of the Listed Alessandro Perrone at Capannelle on Saturday. The filly was bred by Eithne Hamilton who sold her as a foal in Goffs to Paula Flannery for €18,000. The 2yo filly continues the fine recent run for her sire Clodovil. The Rathasker Stud stallion also sired Sunday’s Group 2 Prix De Sandringham winner Laugh Out Loud who in turn was continuing a great run for the Mick Channon stable.
