The EBF 2yo Fillies Maiden (6f) at Fairyhouse last Friday was won by the Jim Bolger bred and trained SOMETIMESADIAMOND (IRE), who was making a winning debut in the process, in what looked like a hotly contested maiden.  The winning margin of half-a-length, from the Aidan O’Brian-trained Butterscotch (IRE) (Galileo IRE)), does not fully do her justice, as she appeared to win with something in hand and was not stopping at the line.  By Vocalised, she is the first foal out of Something Graceful (Galileo (IRE)), who is closely related to Oceanographer (Sea The Stars (IRE)), winner of the Group 3 Lexus Stakes in Australia last year.  The second dam, Que Puntual, won the Group 2 Nassau Stakes in Canada and was Group 1-placed, in the Diana Stakes at Saratoga.  Something Graceful produced another Vocalised filly last year.

Elsewhere on the card, Low Latency, by Kildangan Stud-based sire, Exceed And Excel, took the honours in the EBF 3yo+ Maiden, over 6 furlongs.  Trained by Darren Bunyan, the 3yo was having his fourth run, and easily accounted for this contest by 2 ¾ lengths from Bay of Skaill in second, with Shinko Princess (IRE) a further neck behind in third.  His trainer commented post-race “Low Latency has been an unlucky horse but I am happy that he has finally proved us right on the track as his work is very good. He works like a Group 3 horse”.  He could next run in a Listed race at the Curragh in a couple of weeks.  He is a half-brother to several winners, including the multiple Listed-placed Red Galileo.   His dam is a Listed-placed daughter of Galileo (IRE), Ivory Gala, who is a half-sister to Group 3-placed sprinter in the UAE, Al Pura and closely related to the dam of the smart sprinting two-year-old, Approve (IRE).
