There were three Listed contests on the card at Navan Racecourse yesterday and two of the three were won by Irish-bred horses. TEXAS ROCK (IRE) triumph in the Listed Testimonial Stakes came as a mild surprise at odds of 16-1 but the soft ground seemed to suit the Rock Of Gibraltar (IRE) gelding and a strong ride from jockey Fran Berry saw off the challenge from Son Of Rest to win by a neck.

The Joe Keeling-owned six-year-old won the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes at Naas Racecourse last May in similar fashion. TEXAS ROCK (IRE) is from the family of Group 2 winner Sir Prancealot (IRE) and Group 3 Princess Margret Stakes runner-up Rosabee (IRE). Bred and trained by Michael C. Grassick it has been reported that the plan is to go for the Knockaire Stakes at Leopardstown for his final run of the year.

The final Listed race of the day on the card was the Staffordstown Stud Stakes which went to the Aidan O’Brien trained filly BYE BYE BABY (IRE). The two-year-old daughter of multiple champion sire Galileo (IRE) has shown progression since she broke her maiden in Newmarket last month and also since her second run behind Ballet Shoes (IRE) in the Flame Of Tara Stakes. This time around the she was hardly challenged and landed the Listed event comfortably under jockey Donnacha O’Brien. BYE BYE BABY (IRE) is out of Remember When (IRE), herself a half-sister to Castle Hyde stallion Dylan Thomas (IRE) and 1,000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen (IRE).
