Flat Racing Only National Hunt Racing Only Dual

There are twenty-six racecourses in Ireland, spread throughout the country, each with their own unique terrain. Irish racecourses are primarily turf tracks, however, there is one floodlit all-weather polytrack at Dundalk racecourse and Laytown provides the unforgettable spectacle of live racing run entirely on the beach.

Twenty of the racecourses hold both Flat and Jump Racing; The Curragh, Dundalk and Laytown hold only Flat racing and Punchestown, Kilbeggan and Thurles stage only Jump racing. Ireland is famous for its world class racing festivals with Galway and Punchestown attracting crowds of almost 100,000 people each.
