By partnering with Klampenborg Galopbane we hope to consolidate our Scandinavian connection and assist more Scandinavian racing professionals in sourcing their success on Irish shores.Alex Cairns, ITM
Irish Thoroughbred Marketing have partnered with Klampenborg Galopbane, the premier racecourse in Denmark, to sponsor the ITM Danish Oaks on Sunday 4 September 2022.
The ITM Danish Oaks is one of the flagship races in the Scandinavian racing calendar and regularly draws some of the region’s finest competitors, as well as being a popular day among racegoers.
The race was therefore the perfect match for ITM, which promotes Ireland as the premier country in which to breed, buy, and own thoroughbreds. Horses sourced in Ireland have earned an excellent reputation in Scandinavia, offering both success and value to buyers.
This year’s Swedish and Norwegian Derby winner HARD ONE TO PLEASE (IRE) was sired and bred in Ireland and bought at an Irish sale. Purchased as a yearling for just £8,000, this tough colt has been a dream horse for connections and already earned over €185,000.
This follows on from the 2021 Swedish and Norwegian Derby double of STROXX CARLRAS (IRE) who was also sired, bred, and bought in Ireland. Stroxx Carlras (IRE) was purchased using a €2,000 Irish Thoroughbred Marketing sales voucher and another €2,000 voucher for the Irish sales will be awarded to the winning owners in Sunday’s Danish Oaks at Klampenborg.
Alex Cairns, ITM Scandinavian Representative, commented, “ITM are thrilled to expand our sponsorship portfolio in Scandinavia to include such a prestigious race as the Danish Oaks. We have fostered close relations with our Scandinavian friends and are always delighted to welcome them to Ireland for sales and other visits. By partnering with Klampenborg Galopbane we hope to consolidate our Scandinavian connection and assist more Scandinavian racing professionals in sourcing their success on Irish shores.”
