DANON PREMIUM, a son of Pat Martin’s dual Listed winner Indiana Gal (IRE), gained his third pattern victory in Sunday’s Group 2 Yayoi Sho at Nakayama and thus, brought his unbeaten record to four. 2017’s Japanese champion juvenile colt bided his time under Yuga Kawada and began to bear down on his rivals approaching the turn for home, where he swept wide, galloping home strongly to score by a length and a half.

Trained by Mitsumasa Nakauchida, the DANON PREMIUM races in the colours of Masahiro Noda's Danox Limited. He strengthens the growing case for Intikhab as a broodmare sire, other examples being Red Evie, the dam of wonder mare Found (IRE), and Boa Estrela, the unraced dam of globetrotting superstar Gordon Lord Byron.

All three of Indiana Gal (IRE)’s foals have won- her consistency on the racetrack mirrored in her new career, having been placed in ten Stakes races, as well as victorious in two others. She was bred by Holborn Trust Co and comes from the family of French Guineas winner Make Believe, Haydock Sprint Cup winner Tante Rose (IRE) and Lockinge victor Broken Hearted

Interestingly, the 2015 running of the Yayoi Sho was won by Satono Crown, a son of fellow Irish import Jioconda (IRE), and he is now a dual Group 1 winner.
