Tally-Ho Stud achieved the remarkable feat of breeding the first two home in Thursday’s Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York, as well as standing the sires of the aforementioned pair. FAIRYLAND (IRE) was sent off favourite, the market impressed by her Royal Ascot third and earlier Listed win, and she was ridden to lead Ryan Moore, who donned the well-known silks of Mrs Evie Stockwell.

At the two furlong pole, 25/1 shot The Mackem Bullet (IRE) made her move under Ben Robinson and showed an admirable attitude to push her Ballydoyle rival to the wire, where FAIRYLAND (IRE) prevailed by a nose. Despite her longer odds, the Brian Ellison-trained runner-up was last seen finishing third in the Princess Margaret Stakes and looks a progressive daughter of the late Society Rock (IRE).

FAIRYLAND (IRE) becomes the second Stakes winner bred by the O’Callaghan family out of Queenofthefairies, her second foal Now Or Later (IRE) having won the Group 3 Irish 1,000 Guineas Trial and later, the  Group 2 Blazer Stakes at Flemington. Tally-Ho know the family well, having sold Queenofthefairies’ half-brother Dream Ahead as a two-year-old, before registering multiple Group 1 wins. FAIRYLAND (IRE)’s grand-dam is Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes heroine Land Of Dreams, while her great grand-dam Sahara Star won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes.

Kodiac now boasts 20 individual Group winners, as well as 24 individual Listed victors. The son of Danehill commanded a fee of €50,000 this season.
