RIZEENA (IRE) TAKES THE GROUP 1
MOYGLARE STUD STAKES
RIZEENA (IRE) (Iffraaj) got back to winning ways,
when steered to victory by James Doyle to win the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes
at the Curragh yesterday. This was the second win in this race for her
trainer Clive Brittain, having won with Sayyedati (Shadeed) in 1992. That filly went on to win multiple Group 1’s
– namely the Cheveley Park, 1,000 Guineas, Prix Jacques Le Marois and Sussex
Stakes - and similar targets for RIZEENA (IRE) look likely after yesterday’s
impressive performance, in what was a strong renewal of the Moyglare.
RIZEENA (IRE) was bred by Round Hill Stud, which
are incidently also breeders of PUISSANCE DE LUNE (IRE) (Shamardal) one of the
favourites for this year’s Melbourne Cup. Clive Brittain commented after the race “I’ve
trained some good fillies with Sayyedati, User Friendly and Pebbles, of course,
and she may not be that far behind them.
She’s just developed and I’d be very surprised if she doesn’t make a
three-year-old given her temperament.
I’ll talk to Sheikh Rashid (owner).
We’ll look at the Cheveley Park Stakes and there is also the Prix Marcel
Boussac and the Fillies’ Mile”.
