G1 winner Mekhtaal has joined Knockmullen House Stud in County Wexford from Haras du Grand Courgeon in France. Mekhtaal won the G1 Prix d’Ispahan over nine furlongs and was second in the G1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes over a mile and a half.

Gordon Doyle of Knockmullen House Stud commented, “I am really excited to have a G1 winner by the brilliant and popular Sea The Stars standing at Knockmullen.

He was a high-class racehorse and comes from a wonderful dam line. His dam Aiglonne is a Group winner who has bred four Group or blacktype winners. It is the family of G1 winners Germance, Almutawakel and champion White Mussle. Being out of a Silver Hawk mare he is bred on a similar cross to leading sire Nathaniel.

Mekhtaal was a €300,000 yearling. He is 16.1 and has a great walk, a lovely shoulder, and bone.”

Mekhtaal will be standing beside Silas Marner. Silas Marner has made a fantastic start to his stallion career. His first three runners over jumps have all won. As the only son of Muhtathir at stud in Ireland he is a rare commodity.
